Day 27

After a la-dee-dah morning of grocery shopping and laundry, a group of us went to the Palais Garnier Opera House. It was stunning. The House was founded by Louis XIV in 1669 and built by the orders Napoleon III for a competition, won by Charles Garnier- the architect of the theater. One of my favorite parts was the ceiling in one of the walkways:
I loved the glistening stars on these
 first two ceilings.

Beautifully painted with gold

The "minor" sad thing was that by the time we had walked around and made it to the auditorium, the climax of the Opera House, they closed it off to get ready for close. So though there was that let down, it was still a great visit!
The Opera House!
And beautiful floors
A beautiful place for sure. This Opera house was actually the inspiration for The Phantom of the Opera. Neat, huh?
