Does this place look familiar?
How about these ones?
The reason why they may look familiar is because they were scenes in a movie. The first picture is from
Princess Bride, if you recall, when Buttercup is in a dream with a crowd of people. The second and third pictures are one room - the room where Elizabeth Bennett paces back and forth while her aunt and uncle are in the room in the film
Pride and Prejudice. The doorway is portrayed as a closet that Elizabeth hides in when Mr. Darcy enters the room. So of course I had my picture taken in the same place:
All the pictures so far were taken at Haddon Hall, which has been the home of dukes for decades. One unique thing about Haddon is the glass work on the windows:

Our next stop, Hardwick Hall, was the home of a rich lady that she had built in mid 1500s. The purpose? Mainly, to show off her wealth. Glass was very expensive in those times, so the fact that lots of glass was used in the construction of the Hall was a statement in and of itself. The rhyme goes: Hardwick Hall, more glass than wall.
